My name is Jillian Marcantonio, and I am a theologian, scholar, and teacher of Christian history. I am the Assistant Professor of Christian History at Campbell University Divinity School (Buies Creek, NC). Bridging late ancient reception of New Testament texts and modern-day retrieval of the Christian tradition, my research and teaching seek to make historical and theological texts accessible and applicable to the twenty-first century reader. Studying Christian history and theology is inherently an intercultural endeavor, and I guide students through time and space so that they can better understand God, Scripture, Christianity, and their calling.
I defended my dissertation, "Embodying a Quiet but Pervasive Presence: The Holy Spirit in Late Ancient Liturgical Poetry" in the Graduate Program in Religion at Duke University, Durham, NC, in March 2025. I previously studied at Wheaton College (IL) before returning to my beloved home state to study at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ.
